From the pause of disappearance
Artists from all over the
world are invited to send in their artwork(s). The artworks should
preferably deal with the subject matter as explained below.
The
sent in artworks will be shown as part of a the exhibition From
the pause of disappearance located in three abandonend shops
in the picturesque timber-framed main road of Lamspringe within the
framework of the Lamspringer September – the annually month
of culture and fine arts.
Lamspringe
is an old monastry village (first mentioned in 847 AD) close to the
Harz mountains in Lower Saxony.
In
recent years Lamspringe faced a constant disappearance of almost all
shops in the heart of the village on the main road while at the same
time some large supermarkets grew at the green field outside the
village. Also a notable number of villagers, mostly the Younger,
migrated to cities.
Inspired
by Berlin based artists who took over and still take over empty shops
in run-down areas for their art projects and often start a process of
gentrification - usually unwitting -, this exhibition is about
questioning the contrasts and similarities between rural and urban
development.
